Patroclos is a noble comrade and warrior. Do you agree?

I wouldn't say that Patroclus is noble but I definitely say that he is a warrior. Yes he killed many Trojans and also Trojan officers but he defied Achilles' orders which was to stop engaging the Trojans if the ships were already saved. Instead, because of his lust for battle and war, he continued to fight and he followed the Trojans to the walls of Troy thus results into his death. If he wasn't too much of a proud warrior, he couldn't followed the soldiers. I think a warrior is someone who does his duty based on his job and not because of his interests and emotions but really based on what he is trained to do and to follow orders. Following orders is the safest way to survive a battle except of course when you are ordered to kill yourself. Well overall, I think Partoclus is great in being a warrior but not that much of being a noble one because of what he has done. He could have been a greater warrior if not for his irresponsible actions. He defeated many Trojans, with a count of 53 I think which makes him a real good warrior. The only flaw he had was his lust for battle. That is what I think of Patroclus.

Wars do not only claim many lives but also spoil/destroy a man's character. Do you agree with this statement?

I do not believe that being in war spoils a man's character. War, it is an event where a country conquers another country because of many reasons, maybe it's for power an expansion for alliances to others. But for the situation for the Trojan war is different. It is about a girl named Helen that brought the war to Troy. I do not believe that war spoils a man's character because the man is doing war not for himself but for his country. I wouldn't call it a spoil but I could maybe compare it to Sacrifice which I think is different from because Sacrifice for me doesn't destroy a man's character but instead it builds him up. The soldier's actually stand for something when they're going to war, they go to war for the betterment of their country. A man killing people for no reason is very different from a man killing for something good or for the better. Yes, war does claim many lives and some other soldiers feel that they are weak after a fight, weak in spirit I don't know, maybe they feel that way. The regret that they killed a man, and other reasons that made them less of a soldier. But a real soldier must think after the war is that they must feel honored and they must feel the victory! They must feel that they have succeeded in protecting their country and that they succeeded in protecting their people. Truly, I don't think that killing a man in war doesn't spoil a man's character because war is supposed to be for something. War is somewhat a good thing because war is sometimes the reason that there is unity in a country. War does not spoil a man's character but it builds and show a man's character. That's what I think and that's what I also feel about war.

Between Paris and Menelaus, who do you consider as a nobler/greater/more honorable man?

I would have to say that Menelaus is much more greater, much more noble, and much more honorable than Paris. It was clear that when Menelaus and Paris fought for Helen, Menelaus was more skill full and much more stronger. Also he stood by his word when he fought Paris-he met the terms of the fight. Not like Paris who retreats while fighting which wasn't the deal at all. Menelaus would really do anything so that he could get Helen back. Truly a warrior and king of Sparta. Also he is brave and courageous for he fought Paris straight on without hesitation. He knew that he would be the victor. If it wasn't for the help of Aphrodite, He couldn't have one the fight against Paris.
Although Paris is of course somewhat noble and loyal. Paris is also good in battle but not good as Menelaus of course. If their battle continued without any help by Aphrodite, that couldn't have been the last battle Paris fought. For it is clear that without any help of god's, Menelaus couldn't killed Paris easily.

There aren't many people nowadays who has these kinds of traits, like the people of Greece back then who where very loyal, humble, and other traits that made them be called the " The Glory That Was Greece".
Maybe the person that could maybe the Menelaus of our time is the people's champ Manny Pacquiao. If you think about it carefully, some traits of Menelaus can also be compared to Manny's. Like being brave and courageous and all that. Manny fights for the pride of his country and not only for the country itself but also for we Filipinos. It's like Manny Pacquiao is conquering the champions of each country. Just like Menelaus who is good in fighting for his country. They both also sacrificed so much for their country. So maybe that's why I picked Manny Pacquiao as the Menelaus of our time. Because he is also strong, courageous and brave.
